Embracing Joy When You Don’t Feel It

It’s the season to be joyful, thankful and to celebrate. Well, what if you don’t feel it?  Christmas is some people favorite time of the year but there are some who just don’t feel it. It’s all the hoopla of shopping and baking that has made me not a happy camper. What happened to the old days when we celebrated the birth of Christ, drank hot apple cider and sang carols. Those days seen to be gone.

Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy shopping as much as the next gal. But, I like to buy gifts for me. Is that selfish? It probably is but that’s what I’m feeling right tnow. So what do I do?  I stop, calm myself and think about it. I came to the realization it’s not about the outward apprearance of joy but what you’re feeling in the heart.  So, no matter what the outward facade is showing, I’m embracing joy within and celebrating the old fashion way.

I’m celebrating both ways. I’m buying stuff for others and buying stuff for me, too. Double the pleasure, double the fun.
